Pisgah Triple Crown Series registration opens
North Carolina
New Year, new adventures! January is the month when many popular MTB events, like the Pisgah Triple Crown Series, open registration. Riders can choose from the ‘Hard Core Series’ which includes the famed Off Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell (ORAMM), the Uwharrie MTB Challenge (Long Course), Woods Mountain, and Swank 65 or the ‘Casual Racer Series’ featuring the Sasquatch Scrambler, Jerdon Mountain Challenge, Uwharrie MTB Challenge (Short Course), and Couch Potato. There’s a $30 discount if you register for three races in a series.
Mitchell Memorial Forest gets $68K grant
Hamilton County, Ohio
The state of Ohio recently announced Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant recipients, and Mitchell Memorial Forest received $68K to help fund a pump track and quarter-mile skills loop.
$378K contract awarded for Constitution Park trail construction
Cumberland, Maryland
The city of Cumberland recently awarded a contract for the construction of a two- to five-mile beginner/intermediate mountain bike trail at Constitution Park. Global Action Sports Solutions will design and build the trail, and the construction coincides with efforts to start a NICA team in the area.
California Parks grants could add bike skills park and trails
Stockton, California
California State Parks recently announced a total of almost $42 million for eight projects to expand access across the state. One of the projects mentioned is in Stockton. Just over $7 million has been allocated for a new skate park, two basketball courts, and BMX and bike trails with lighting and landscaping. The annoucement doesn’t explicitly mention mountain bike trails, but the details sound as if a bike skills park is in the mix.
