Dupont State Forest is a vast, expansive area with about 80 miles of singletrack and doubletrack trails. Here in Dupont, you'll find a little bit of everything, ranging from gorgeous trails with rushing waterfalls, easy doubletrack, challenging, technical singletrack, steep slickrock, and flowy dirt descents.
Be sure to check out the Big Rock, Burnt Mountain, and Cedar Rock trails in order to experience the excellent East Coast slickrock! Also, you have to make sure to descend the Ridgeline Trail (#65)--talk about flowy and fast!
One recommended route of many:
Ride across the road to the yellow gate marked Corn Mill Shoals Rd. Go through the gate and take the second trail on the left. This is a steep climb and comes out on some slickrock openings.
Follow the painted arrows on the rock and follow the trail to the top of the mountain, then back down on the slickrock. After emerging at the power lines, take a hard right down the hill towards the dirt road (effectively a 180 degree turn). Turn right onto this dirt road and follow it down to Bridal Veil Trail.
Take a right onto this trail and follow it to Corn Mill Shoals Road. Turn left. Next, turn right at Little River trail. This trail will go up for a while and becomes Burnt Mountain trail.
Continue up the hill. After reaching the top of this mountain, there is an insanely steep downhill that leads back to Corn Mill Shoals road. Go left and you will be back at the yellow gate from the beginning.
Overall, about a 7 or 8 mile loop. There are several loops here so get a map and check out some of the other stuff. Its easy to get lost out here so bring these directions or a map. Lots of slickrock riding - I've been told this is what Moab is like. These trails are fun because they are different, but they are also pretty tough and muddy after it rains.
